Are you an experienced Controller ready to up your game and take on a leadership role in a thriving organization? Vital Mechanical Service in Renton is conducting a search for an individual who can motivate others with a positive professional attitude; displays integrity, reliability, and leadership. You will plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting functions and as a leader. You will make key decisions and will, challenge and influence the Leadership team in your area of responsibility and expertise.As the Controller you will ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and Company policy, monitor and maintain the control systems for the processing of revenue, WIP and cost of sales, fixed assets, and payroll, provide financial analyses, ensuring compliance with Company policies and internal control safeguards. The Controller manages cash flow and other treasury functions, provides critical analysis of changes in account balances, works with operations to build process and controls,Applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge of finance, accounting, internal controls, and cost control principles. You should also be competent with federal and state financial regulations and have an ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial report, statements, and projections.What You'll Do:Manages the HR, Payroll, A/P, construction contract compliance and Billing.

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting and HR functions
  • Maintain the General Ledger, review and reconcile all accounts monthly and provide G/L analysis
  • Prepare and present monthly Financial Statements as well as financial management reports to the partners and Leadership Team
  • Responsible for cash management and forecasting - determining cash requirements including placement/movement of funds in various accounts
  • Prepare weekly union payrolls as well as monthly commission reports and payments
  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close and manage all team members through the closing process
  • Maintain good working relationship with banker, bonding company, insurance company, and others, as assigned
  • Complete Monthly and Quarterly state, city and local B&O Tax returns.
  • Assist outside CPA's with annual review and Federal Income Tax Returns
  • Provide Executive Team with information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Initiate and manage annual budget and monthly forecasting activities.
  • Provides significant support and direction to project teams regarding project job cost review and analysis.Design Implement and Maintain Accounting Policies and Procedures and Company-Wide Internal Controls
    • Maximize efficiencies, organize work processes and procedures, and automate procedures through system improvements and initiatives including software and systems implementation and other firm-wide improvements as needed
    • Manage, coach and mentor accounting staff.
    • Update and/or create general accounting process documents.What You'll Gain:

        • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
        • 10+ years progressive accounting and construction industry experience
        • Knowledge of GAAP
        • In-depth understanding of Work in Process and construction revenue recognition
        • Working knowledge of Sage accounting software preferred
        • Strategic leader with management experience
        • Great communicator with the ability to communicate complex financial and accounting data to cross-functional team members
