The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a
fast-paced Production environment to troubleshoot issues on the
production line and drive to resolution, mitigate risk associated
with high complexity product, rare option content, new product
implementations, high profile builds, and pilot/prototype trials.
Daily activities will include taking shop calls, coordinating with
plant production, materials & quality departments on all aspects of
the manufacturing process, issue investigation, interaction with
design engineering and PACCAR Engine Company. Information
dissemination is a key aspect of this position and excellent
communication skills are required.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Work in a fast paced environment providing timely support to
Production, Quality and Materials related to build issues.
Investigate issues to determine root cause and bring issues to
closure via corrective actions.
Develop short term engineering solutions and containment strategies
with Design Engineering to eliminate recurring production line
Communicate to production the impact of engineering issues and
rework instructions to resolve issue.
Communicate chassis image changes verbally, using email
distributions, and via use of the online defect tracking system.
Update management on key issues and impacts to production flow.
Perform in depth review of assigned projects/builds to identify
potential areas of impact/risk for the Renton plant. Facilitate
information transfer to affected departments for action.
Reduce plant and ultimately production impacts associated with new
product implementations and high content builds through review of
ECNs, REIs, frame layout, bill of material and selection logic, and
build station assignment.
Document progress on assigned reviews.
Facilitate coordination of pilot builds and prototype trials
between Design Engineering, PTC, and Renton plant personnel.
Develop and deliver plant awareness overviews related to assigned
builds and new product implementations. May include interaction
with Plant Training Department on development of training
Represent Renton Plant in Kenworth Division Design reviews and
tollgates. Solicit and communicate Production input during the
design cycle to support design for manufacturability. Initiate
request for pilot builds on builds with major impact.
Participate in weekly meetings focused on upcoming build
Document build issues using the PLR2015 system, perform containment
activities, pursue corrective action, and verify design
Participate in Plant Continuous Improvement Activities to satisfy
lean methodology initiatives.
Develop solutions to effectively manage identified production
challenges related to daily manufacturing.
Complete design activities to drive expedited implementation of
Primary backup for Liaison Engineering.
Conduct and document investigations relating to special assignments
requested by Engineering Integration Group Lead or Resident
Bachelor's degree required, engineering strongly preferred.
High level of initiative and demonstrated use of proactive problem
Excellent communication and team building skills.
Must be able to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and manage
multiple tasks concurrently.
Working knowledge of Lean Methodology and/or training and
experience in use of Six Sigma tools.
Working knowledge of PCMS, CMS-80, Pro/Engineer, PLR/FRACAS.
