The Boeing Company is seeking Senior Facilities Chemical Process Engineer, Level 4, to join our Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) team located in Renton, Washington .

In this position, you will provide leadership on the procurement, modification, and maintenance of complex chemical process equipment systems (e.g. process industrial waste, industrial waste water systems, metal finishing tank lines, scrubbers, sparge air blowers, exhaust fans, pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems, chemical transfer lines, tank heating and cooling systems, and rectifiers).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads project teams to develop and review complex specifications, conceptual and final designs, cost estimates and provide maintenance support for modification of systems (e.g., process industrial waste, industrial waste water, etc.)
  • Reviews specifications to assess compliance with customer requirements, codes and applicable laws by applying knowledge of process engineering, practices, and materials
  • Participates on or leads multi-functional teams to integrate the activities of multiple engineering subject areas, outside consultants and government agencies
  • Partners with system collaborators (e.g. Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS), equipment operators, maintenance technicians) on the responsible operations and maintenance of process systems
  • Leads teams to perform complex conceptual analysis to resolve cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
  • Facilitate the implementation of improvements in asset efficiency, availability, and maintainability to specify configuration of new assets in order to support reliability programs
  • Reviews records (inspections, measures, and tests) to detail asset operating and maintainability condition for the purpose of resolving whether to continue to operate, repair, surplus, or replace
  • Develops chemical process configuration management policies, processes, and documents
  • Builds cost estimates for the acquisition and/or installation or modification of complex equipment to support customer budget and business planning activities for current and future year requirements
  • Creates, reviews and approves complex equipment designs through the application of engineering methodologies for the acquisition, creation, or modification of equipment meeting the partners validated specifications, requirements, and/or functions, including alignment to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develops, approves, and implements the testing and acceptance of complex equipment to validate that equipment performance meets the detailed specifications
  • Assists project management in reviewing major/complex projects by managing a team of stakeholders in the acquisition and modification of equipment to enable the customer to achieve the defined business objectives in accordance with company and accounting policies as applied to equipment
  • Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tools to ensure that equipment operational and maintenance processes are effective and efficient for operations customers
  • Provides technical recommendations and solutions by investigating, evaluating, collaborating with suppliers and partners, fixing and responding to maintenance/operator questions related to complex equipment
  • Develops, reviews and approves bid and procurement specifications for complex equipment by teaming with multi-functional subject matter experts and applying engineering methodologies for the acquisition or modification of equipment which will meet the stakeholder's requirements
  • Researches technologies, processes, materials, and methodologies related to complex equipment by attending informative events, reading technical publications, reviewing emerging trends, and studying historical data in order to identify opportunities for improvement in current and future projects
  • Advises partners on technology developments relevant to technical and business strategies
  • Identifies and assists in developing strategies and tactics to address market dynamics of our suppliers and their products
  • Creates training for new or modified equipment, changes in process, changes in personnel, and/or as periodically required by company policy or legal requirement This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

    The current expectation is up to 25% of domestic travel to other Boeing sites as business needs demand.

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
    • 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD package)
    • 5+ years of experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
    • 5+ years experience in a chemical processing role Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • 5+ years of experience leading teams in the modification and maintenance of metal finishing tank line systems in a manufacturing environment
      • 5+ years of engineering experience in repair/replacement/upgrade chemical process system projects in a manufacturing/chemical storage/chemical off gas environment
      • 5+ years of experience in an innovative chemical engineering role
      • 3+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or other similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution, processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts
      • 3+ years of experience with acid/base solution storage and transfer processes
      • ABET accredited degree Typical Education/Experience:

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Summary pay range: $119,850- $162,150
