Job Description Job Description The Data Center Facility
Engineer III is responsible for maintaining the operation and
maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, life safety, and
monitoring equipment within the Data Center/Facility. This
equipment supports mission-critical servers and is expected to
maintain 100% customer uptime. Responsibilities include maintaining
facility appearance and integrity. Work Location: - Hybrid in the
Seattle, WA area - Occasional travel up to 50 miles outside of
Seattle Responsibilities Oversee potentially high-risk projects and
can handle the coordination of resources, project execution, &
communication with supervision. Conduct routine facility
walkthroughs that identify infrastructure risks, performance gaps,
and assist in developing practical solutions to improve or
mitigate. Read and understand drawings and prints, including
one-liners and floor plans. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical
data center infrastructure, enabling the quick identification of
root cause solutions to technical problems. Communicate technical
activities relating to the facility, its assets, and their
operation to relevant parties. Facilitate Root Cause Analysis
(RCAs) to ensure the recurrence of issues or incidents are
eliminated. Develop and document step-by-step methods of procedure
(MOPs) for critical maintenance. Develop and document step-by-step
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating
Procedures (EOPs) to drive the consistency of operation and quickly
respond to incidents to return equipment to operation. Supervise
and manage scheduled maintenance of electrical, mechanical, life
safety, and monitoring equipment. Assist in the preparation of
detailed maintenance plans in accordance with Rackspace Technical
Change Management guidelines. Oversee and be proficient with the
monitoring equipment and other critical systems. Effectively lead
Incident Management efforts in the event of system
degradation/failures, communicating the status to all levels and
resolving the issue in a timely fashion. Respond to Engineering
requests with technical information for electrical power and
mechanical capacity. Review building logs and maintenance records
on an ongoing basis and undertake visual checks and tests of all
electrical, mechanical, life safety, and monitoring equipment.
Supervise external contractors undertaking specialist maintenance
and inspections to ensure the quality of work is maintained. Adhere
to company security policies and procedures, including health and
safety, and local governing requirements as directed. Maintain
meticulous 5S and housekeeping practices. Communicate regularly
with peers regarding operational readiness and system conditions.
Effective project management leads to the successful completion of
assigned and/or shift projects. Performance improvement or risk
mitigation leads to improved data center uptime resiliency.
Proficient trouble-shooting and problem-solving capabilities lead
to accurate and timely resolution of technical events and root
cause identification. Detailed and accurate methods of procedure
(MOP) lead to the successful completion of assigned critical
maintenance. Detailed and effective SOPs lead to the efficient and
reliable performance of the infrastructure operation. Following
established EOPs; Engineer and assigned shift (if applicable) is
able to return critical equipment to service, providing 100%
customer uptime. Clear, concise, and accurate technical
communication of facility-related events is delivered to the team.
Effective Incident Management allows leadership to maintain
confidence in the Data Center and Engineering team. Record keeping
of activities is kept 100% up to date and accurate. Planned
maintenances are completed within the associated window and in
accordance with the predetermined process. Assigned Data Center
engineering spaces are clean and organized, with specific areas
demarcated for all movable items. Ability to work independently,
manage priorities, and maintain a high level of attention to
detail. Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, high-pressure
environment. Regular logging activities are kept 100% up to date
and accurate. Education/Knowledge/Skills High School Diploma or
regional equivalent required Bachelor's Degree required, preferably
in a field related to the role. At the manager’s discretion,
additional relevant experience may substitute degree requirement. 5
- 7 years of experience in the field of role required Intermediate
knowledge of HVAC, HV and LV switch boards, Transformers, Chillers,
BMS (Trend), Fire Alarms, Sprinkler systems, UPS, Lead acid
batteries, Generators, PDUs, and RPPs Technical Acumen Our
compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US
geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from
$78,000/year up to $114,000/year. Pay is based on several factors,
including market location, and may vary depending on job-related
knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more

incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonuses
or incentives, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan
