Overview Reports to: Vice President, Business and Commercial Lending Functions Supervised: Participations Purchased and Sold Primary Functions: Responsible for managing the commercial loan participation process, to include strategic direction, oversight of the day-to-day activities, underwriting analysis and servicing. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and execute the Departments business strategies in order to attain the goals set forth in the Business Plan. Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director, Business and Commercial Services and Vice President, Business and Commercial Lending so they have accurate view of the markets we purchase loans from. Responsible for the overall management and oversight of the Business & Commercial Services loan participation portfolio. Responsible for increasing the number of financial institutions that are able to buy loans from AKUSA. Work closely with the Executive Director and Vice President of Lending to ensure there is a pipeline of loans that can be sold due to NCUA lending cap restrictions. Responsible for performing due diligence on credit unions in order to qualify them to become approved originating lenders. This will include financial analysis, reference screening and site visits as well as negotiating participation agreements and documentation review. Actively manage workflow to ensure reporting deadlines are met without sacrificing accuracy or quality. Assists in the preparation of underwriting new purchased loan participation requests ensuring compliance with NCUA regulatory requirements and AKUSAs policies and procedures. Analyze, review, and approve participation statements and confirm their respective adherence to complex contractual deal points Responsible for the development and maintenance of manuals, procedures, on-the-job training materials, department documents and records management for the participation portfolio. Oversees the development and administration of assigned staff to include validating the input of financial data within the software utilized for analysis purposes. Makes recommendations for policy and process improvements for credit memorandums, the approval process, and other credit department functions and implements them as warranted. Maintains in-depth knowledge of credit union regulations, policies and procedures as they relate to commercial lending and loan participations. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Accounting, Economics or related area. Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Minimum of 8 years commercial lending experience to include underwriting, loan review and portfolio management. Ideal candidate should possess strong underwriting skills with formal credit training. Five year supervisory experience preferred. Experience/Skills: Must have in-depth knowledge of commercial lending, to include underwriting and regulatory requirements related to commercial lending. Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving, decision-making and all aspects of financial analysis. Must demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal, and excellent written/oral communication skills. Tenure: Not Applicable Compensation Director of Participations (Category 06) Salary Pay Range: $90,000 - $155,000 annually. Starting base salary will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, education, and local or state wage requirements, if applicable and will fall within the range provided above.
