Position descriptions are reviewed and revised to meet the changing needs of the organization.TITLE: Director Organizational DevelopmentJOB OVERVIEW: The Director Organizational Development serves as a coach and guide to leadership, internal HR partners, and other members of the workforce while supporting key organizational talent objectives. Utilizing organizational initiatives, partners with clients to assess, implement, and evaluate performance improvement, employee engagement, and development. This position impacts organizational success through a blend of one-to-one coaching, team building, leading retreats/focus groups, and other special projects. Partners in the development of performance management, employee and physician engagement, and organizational training and development programs tied to regulatory compliance and strategy. This role will not oversee position-specific competencies or clinical education.DEPARTMENT: Organizational DevelopmentWORK HOURS: Typically, Monday through Friday as required to fulfill responsibilities.REPORTS TO: SVP, Chief People & Experience OfficerPREREQUISITES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Organization Development, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or related field, required. Extensive experience may be considered in lieu of some education. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of OD/HR related experience in a complex organization, required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years leadership, coaching experience, or workforce management, required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven track record of effectively coaching leaders and skilled professionals at all levels in the organization.
  • Proven communication, leadership, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to lead high-profile initiatives and present approaches and plans to senior leaders.
  • Skilled consultant with proven ability to contract with clients and manage projects through to completion.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Creative, innovative, and adept at learning new approaches to organization development and change.UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Requires prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged exposure to computer monitor and keyboarding. Requires planning, organizing, and working on multiple tasks at one time. Requires the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management team members.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs the needs assessment for staff development and business performance issues to enhance the effectiveness of workforce performance.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders throughout the organization to identify and implement learning and developmental activities for the workforce.
  • Maintains consultative relationships with people in subject-matter expert areas/centers of excellence that provide input to or deliver training and development within the organization.
  • Builds and maintains a library of resources that address frequently needed and/or required competencies of the workforce.
  • Prepares and administers budget, including grant budgets, prepared cost estimate for budget recommendations, submits justifications for budget items, and monitors and controls expenditures.
  • Leads organizational action planning for effective implementation of employee and physician engagement results to drive change.
  • Collaborates and participates on committees to ensure the appropriate training and regulatory driven modules are delivered to staff via learning management software.
  • Oversees and partners with HR on new employee orientation to maintain progressive employee experience, up-to-date content, and compliance with completion of learning modules.
  • Completes annual performance assessments and evaluations for staff on a timely basis. Assessment includes evaluation of specific behavioral competencies as outlined in Service Culture Guidelines and Specific Job Competencies as defined by VMC Pillar Goals.
  • Represents the department at appropriate internal, external, and workgroup meetings.
  • Performs all job functions in a manner consistent with Valley's cultural expectations defined as our Caregiver Commitment. These characteristics include quality performance, demonstrating compassion, respect, teamwork, community-centered awareness, and innovation.
  • Actively participates as a member of the VMC Leadership Team.
