OVERVIEWThe Center for Spirituality and Action (CSA), launched
in 2024, aims to foster intentional Christian community for those
seeking a contemplative spirituality, engaging in prayer,
formation, retreats, spiritual direction, and service. Inspired by
the monastic 'prayer and work' tradition, it encourages living a
balanced life grounded in spiritual practice. Learn more at
.POSITION SUMMARYThe Director of Saint Mark's Center for
Spirituality and Action (hereafter, Director) will serve with
grace, humor, and dedication, supporting the cathedral community
and CSA participants. We seek a relational individual with
initiative, experience working with individuals and groups, and a
personal commitment to contemplative practices. The Director will
guide community groups in embracing: 1) Spiritual Renewal, 2) A
Rule of Life, 3) Mutual Accountability, and 4) Prophetic
Witness.RESPONSIBILITIESIn collaboration with the Dean and Canons,
the Director will:
- Facilitate applications for joining CSA community groups.
- Develop curricular content focused on relationship-building,
community formation, contemplative practices, and spiritual
offerings.
- Integrate foundational elements of the CSA into individual and
group experiences.
- Ensure each participant receives spiritual direction,
cultivating a team of spiritual directors, scheduling sessions, and
managing billing.
- Lead retreats, wisdom practice days, and other formation events
for CSA and the wider cathedral community.
- Promote service opportunities aligned with the contemplative
life.
- Coordinate with the Wisdom School curriculum and CSA
members.This part-time role averages 4-6 hours weekly, primarily
on-site one or two days, with some remote work. Benefits are
limited, excluding health and dental coverage. Application requires
a cover letter, resume, and three references. Appointment is
contingent on background checks and child sexual abuse prevention

- Confidentiality and experience handling sensitive
situations.
- Ability to work remotely or on-site, with appropriate
technology.
- Proficiency in facilitating retreats and enrichment
programs.
- Warm, attentive presence and excellent communication
skills.
- Technological proficiency (email, word processing,
teleconferencing, presentation tools, social media).
- Educational background in spirituality, theology, counseling,
or related fields preferred.
- Completion of spiritual direction training and experience as a
spiritual director.
- 3-5 years in contemplative practice leadership or
teaching.
- Safe Church training and background screening completed.See for
