Job Description:
Description:Provides database and programming design, data
management, data extraction using multiple data systems and very
large datasets, and analytic support for research projects of
moderate complexity. May participate in multi-site research
projects, working with other sites and running programs. Provides
expertise in interpretation and use of health care and insurance
data. Manages a workload of several projects and documents project
work. Essential Responsibilities:Works with investigator and
project team to determine the scientific research project
requirements. Assists in problem definition and resolution. Uses
knowledge of research methodology, data sources and technology to
recommend solutions. Designs programs and databases to support
projects using multiple data systems and very large datasets.
Performs analysis, coding, testing, documentation and maintenance
tasks for projects of moderate complexity. Stays abreast of
technological advances and data system changes and shares this
knowledge by assisting non- programmer staff as needed, offering
presentations to other programmers, writing shared documentation
and user information and participating in the Kaiser Permanente
programming community.Stays abreast of human subjects research
regulations and assists staff in abiding by federal, state and
organizational guidelines for responsible handling of data.Basic
Qualifications:ExperienceMinimum five (5) years of programming
experience in a comparable environment using multiple data systems
and very large datasets.EducationBachelor's degree in computer
science, statistics, social science, health care, or a related
field.License, Certification, RegistrationN/A Additional
Requirements:Advanced skills in either SAS programming or
application database developmentAdvanced skills in communication;
organizational and self-management; ability to independently handle
demanding workload and balance multiple tasks. Preferred
Qualifications:Seven (7) years of programming experience in a
comparable environment using multiple data systems and very large
datasetsIntermediate skills in a secondary application or
technology supporting large scale data managementIntermediate
familiarity with statistics and epidemiology. Experience in
interpretation and use of health care and insurance data.Master's
degree in computer science, statistics, social science, health
care, or a related
