The City of Renton has an exciting seasonal job opportunity for currently certified Lifeguards, or those interested in becoming certified! Lifeguards are stationed at two locations within the City: Gene Coulon Park and Henry Moses Aquatic Center (HMAC). We will be reviewing applications as they are received, so apply today! WAGES: HMAC Guards: $14.50-16.00 per hour, depending on experience Coulon Beach Guards: $15.00-16.50 per hour, depending on experienceHOURS: Varies up to 40 hours per weekJOB SUMMARY: Maintain the safety and well-being of patrons at the beaches and/or swimming pools, keeping in mind job responsibilities are in public view and under constant scrutiny. Complete tasks as directed and contribute through good work habits and positive interactions with others. SUPERVISION: Reports To: Lifeguard III - Supervisor (Pool/Beach) Supervises: None JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:While working at an assigned post, watch the water at all times, keeping eyes, ears, and mind on the water.Watch for and prevent accidents, and minimize or eliminate hazardous situations.Position self to easily view area of responsibility.Never leave post unless relieved or in response to an emergency.Notify other guards when leaving post for a rescue or patron discipline problem.Know, enforce, and adhere to all rules and regulations of the pools and/or beaches.When on lunch or relief break, remove lifeguard identification.Perform all in-service requirements unless excused.When rotating on break, check restrooms whenever possible.Perform related duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:Must be at least 15 years of age.Lifeguard Training Certification.Red Cross Certification.CPR and First Aid.Successful completion of City swim test.Successfully pass a required background check. JOB EXPECTATIONS:Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.Ensure effective, professional, and respectful interactions with patrons and team members.Work collaboratively with team members.Be at assigned post and ready to work by scheduled start time.Adhere to break times and return to assigned post/guard position by designated time.Ensure assigned equipment is in good working order.Understand and follow direction given.Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.Work evenings and/or weekends as assigned.Comply with all COVID-19 practices and procedures in compliance with City and CDC guidelines, such as frequent cleaning and disinfecting of the facilities, wearing appropriate PPE, and other regulations as provided. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The following represent the physical demands that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:90% of work is performed outside in all weather conditions.Frequent communication with City staff and patrons.Assist with lifting adults or children as needed.Lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds on occasion.Noise level can be moderately loud at times.Comply with all COVID-19 practices and procedures in compliance with City, Labor & Industries, and CDC guidelines, such as frequent cleaning and disinfecting of the facilities, wearing appropriate PPE, and other regulations as provided.
