Description:The U-turn Program Coordinator will manage the
day-to-day operations at Cocoon's House's U-turn Teen Resource
Center, a low barrier drop-in center for youth and young adults
experiencing homelessness. This position will work alongside other
outreach staff to assist youth in getting their emergent needs met
in a safe space. The U-Turn Coordinator is responsible for:
referrals to services, crisis intervention, behavior management,
and mentoring to youth who might not otherwise access services. The
U-Turn coordinator spends significant time in the drop-in facility
tracking and responding to client needs, coordinating street
outreach efforts, providing janitorial support with our facilities
team, and developing programming. Cocoon House is committed to

ResponsibilitiesFull-Time 40 hrs/week - On-siteWages: $25-27/hr DOE
- +$1.50/hr pay differential for multi-lingual skills with
additional paperwork Youth Engagement
- Use of trauma informed care, positive youth development, and
harm reduction as a program practice
- Provide culturally appropriate programming to youth
- Plan and facilitate Holidays, events, groups and other pro
social activities on the drop-in floor
- Create safety plans with youth who are engaged in risky and
unsafe behavior
- Have an in-depth knowledge of current Snohomish County
Resources, to ensure youth are getting their needs met through
mobile and stationary outreach
- Use behavior modification and de-escalation tactics for youth
not following the program guidelines Program Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate the volunteer hot meal calendar
- Oversee and Coordinate the U-turn Peer Mentorship Program
- Oversee Outreach Youth Counselor(s) and Coordinate the U-turn
Staffing and Partner Schedule
- Engage current and new partners and donors in onsite services
and programming
- Oversee program function, including safety, program structure,
budget, staffing, and grant requirements.
- Manage and maintain regular inventory of basic need supplies,
clothing, and food
- Oversee Street Outreach and other community-based efforts with
other department membersData Management
- Ensure all staff are tracking drop in data daily and understand
the outputs
- Ensure that U-turn and Data Entry is completed accurately and
on time
- Work collaboratively with Cocoon House's Data Manager Facility
Management
- Participate in daily opening and closing chores and procedures
to ensure the center is kept clean and orderly
- Maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding facility
- Delegate cleaning and organizing tasks to staff and
volunteers
- Declutter, organize, and maintain U-Turn storage areas and

successful in this role:
- Strong and effective communication skills; proficiency in
crisis intervention/de-escalation.
- Lead team and model strong engagement with youth, including
strength-based approaches and holistic de-escalation.
- Open commitment to serving, supporting, accepting, and
collaborating with individuals of all races, ages, genders,
backgrounds, political opinions and believes, sexual orientations,
criminal histories, citizenship or marital statuses and religious
beliefs
- Individuals with lived experience are strongly encouraged to

- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.General
- Associate's degree or higher preferred in a social science or
equivalent field and one year working directly with at-risk youth
and young adults, or combination of experience and education.
- At least 1 year of management experience, leading, and
supervising a team.
- High school diploma/GED or high school equivalency
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- DCYF background clearance
- Acceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2 violations
within last 3 years
- Possess a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable
transportationPhysical:
- Ability to effectively communicate with all internal and
external clients
- Be able to hear voices and alarms.
- Ability to read and comprehend a variety of materials
- Ability to operate phone, computer, and record information for
files and logs
- Must be able to lift up to 50 Ibs
- Must have ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor
stairwells in case of youth emergency.
